Original Book Cover Art
The cover design for Small Boat, Vast Ocean was based on a collage Diane did while on retreat, part of a project illustrating the 21 Taras liturgy from the Longchen Nyingtik cycle. A two-page spread was devoted to each Tara and this was for the 21st.
Sandra Moreano digitally rearranged Diane’s collage imagery to create the book cover.
The lettering over the rower is Tibetan, three sacred syllables, OM AH HUNG, guiding and encouraging the mariner toward her destination. The three symbolize enlightened body, speech, and mind.
